Dan Lowry joined the staff of the University of Missouri-Columbia in July of 2004. He was born and raised on a farm south of Warrensburg, Missouri.

Dan received his Bachelor's degree from Ozark Christian College in Joplin, Missouri. Making the decision to go into the field of education, he received his Master's Degree and Doctorate in Education from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Dr. Lowry also received his Education Specialist from Central Missouri State University.

He began his teaching profession in the school districts of Mendon and Keytesville where he served as K-12 guidance counselor, behavioral sciences instructor, and basketball coach. His next move was for 20 years when he served as Knob Noster School District as elementary guidance counselor and elementary principal (16 years). Under Dr. Lowry's leadership, Knob Noster Elementary was recognized as a "Gold Star" school by the state, a "Blue Ribbon" school by the Department of Education, and for developing one of "The Top 10 Literacy Programs" by the International Reading Association. His nine years as a Superintendent of Schools were served in the school district of LaMonte, Trenton, and Moberly. In addition to his duties as Co-Executive Director, he serves on the COE Executive Council and the Teacher Development Program Committee.
